Taking what you can get. Getting what you put in. Showing the seams. Fraying the edges. Flying under the radar. Hopping the fence and pulling the next person up behind you.
This group of artists first came together during a Rutgers MFA graduate seminar simply titled "Sharing." Since its inception, this group has curated a series of exhibitions across diverse venues, many of which were marginal, unconventional, but most importantly, available. These shows have unfolded in a handball court, the basement of a suburban apartment, a community room in a local church, underneath a highway bridge and - now at The Re Institute. The practice is situated in camaraderie, not competition; in responsiveness, not rigidity. The work spills into the crevices that were there long before we started to think about them. We each bring something to the space to share, expecting no rewards or returns. == |
