Artist Statement by Lothar Osterburg: “My first show “Re-Read” at what will hopefully be the tail end of the covid pandemic focuseson the inner world we have spent the last year in: books and interiors. The show includes prints, models and video on that subject created throughout the last two decades, all of which I built from memory as scale models using readily available, found material in an attempt to visualize an emotional memory of lost or imagined worlds. By printing the photographs of these setups in the 19th century photographic processes of copperplate photogravure and gum Dichromate printing, they become timeless. The soft focus, the scratches and traces from the photogravure process, and the use of rough and unfinished models all work together to suspend the final image somewhere between the real and the imaginary.”
