Amazingly, The Re Institute has been operating for 16 years and has supported over 360 artists across 76 shows. I have been the sole support system for this endeavor acting as curator, registrar, publicist, facilities and installation manager, docent, caterer, salesperson and underwriter. As I begin this 16th year, I’ve decided it’s a good time to ask for more help so we can carry this wonderful effort forward in a more sustainable way. I’m happy to report that I’ve decided to transition The Re Institute to a nonprofit model. A wonderful organization in New York City, Fractured Atlas, has agreed to be our fiscal sponsor — which means that any donation you make through them is fully tax deductible. This new business model will enable The Re Institute to deepen and expand its mission of building community between artists and the public in an unconventional space free of commercial expectations. Here is how we are looking to grow over the next year: 1. Increase open hours to three afternoons a week by hiring someone to sit the gallery. 2. Provide insurance coverage for the work shown in the space. 3. Contribute to shipping and transportation costs to bring work — and artists from farther away — to the gallery. 4. Increase the number of artist talks and special events. 5. Hire a photographer to document shows and artist talks. 6. Increase paid PR for each show to bring in more visitors. 7. Add a lift chair to the back stairs to improve accessibility to the second floor gallery. 8. Address significant barn maintenance, including a new roof. The Re Institute thanks you for whatever you can do to help support this transition and sustain our core mission. The 2026 season opens on April 11th from 4-6pm, with a community potluck to follow. I hope to see you in the gallery. Please feel free to forward this web page to any friends who might want to support The Re Institute. And thank you for helping to support this project however you can.
